Gotham Scholars Inc. is seeking a passionate and dedicated College Seminar Teacher for our the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. This role is designed for an individual committed to Interdisciplinary learning, equipping high school students with important academic, social, research and critical thinking skills. The instructor will play a key role in encouraging a growth mindset, strong comprehension, social/emotional learning, literary analysis, and critical thinking using various texts and media.
Part-Time Paid Opportunity
Location: Hybrid Remote & In Person (Zoom Based Instruction, NY/NJ based class trips)
Time Commitment:
Zoom Classes - Weekly on Thursday evenings: 6:30 - 8:15pm
Weekly Office Hour - 1hr/week (evening afterschool over zoom)
Responsibilities Include:

Create an interdisciplinary lesson plan that connect to real world issues

Create a Syllabus for the year surrounding an interdisciplinary theme

Be able to engage students with the classroom curriculum

Assign Reading, writing, and presentation in class assignments

Assign an end of year research project & presentation

Conduct Formative Assessments - Give students thorough feedback on assignments, presentations, etc to continue to develop skills throughout the year

Identify students who may need additional academic support and communicate to program staff

Hold Office Hours for students
Candidate Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree highly preferred

Minimum 5 years of teaching experience with high school students

English / ELA Class / Lit/ Freshman Seminar Class Experience

Professional and/or Personal Experience working with students from marginalized backgrounds

Curriculum development experience

Flexibility and adaptability to address individual student needs

Social Emotional Learning Experience (preferred)

Universal Design for Learning Experience (preferred)
