Dear Gotham Scholars Family,
As we reflect on the results of yesterday's presidential election, I feel a deep sense of responsibility and hope for our future. As the founder of Gotham Scholars, I have dedicated my life to empowering motivated public high school students and I believe that our mission is more crucial now than ever.
The diverse voices and perspectives represented in this election remind us of the importance of inclusivity and representation in our democracy. It’s a powerful reminder that every young person deserves the opportunity to be heard and to lead. As a woman who has faced my own challenges in this journey, I am inspired by the resilience and determination of our scholars. They are the future leaders who will shape our society, and I am honored to support them in their paths.
In the coming weeks, we will create spaces for our scholars to process these election results together. We will encourage open dialogue, fostering critical thinking and civil discourse—skills that are essential for active citizenship. It’s vital that our students understand not just the outcomes, but also their role in shaping the future.
I urge all members of our community—students, families, staff, and supporters—to stay engaged beyond election day. There are countless ways to make a difference through local civic participation, community service, and advocacy for causes close to your heart.
At Gotham Scholars, we will continue to work tirelessly to expand educational opportunities and nurture the incredible talents of all our students. Together, we can build a more equitable society where every young person has the chance to thrive.
Thank you for your unwavering support of our mission. Together, we can inspire change.
With gratitude and hope,
Sheila Patel
